This patient wanted a brighter, whiter, straighter smile in time for her upcoming wedding.

Luckily, she already had an amazing smile to work with, with great proportions in balance with her natural facial anatomy.

I used Invisalign clear aligners to move the teeth into a more favourable and straighter position.

This took about six months to complete, as the bride-to-be stuck rigidly to the recommended 20 hours of daily wear.

Once the teeth were straightened, I prescribed at-home tooth whitening to improve and make the shade of the teeth more consistent so the canines (pointy teeth) were not darker. (This is a common occurrence because canines have a thicker, more yellow dentine layer compared to other teeth.)

After whitening, I completed the finishing touches with composite bonding for subtle straightening of the teeth’s contours.

This is done by sculpting composite bonding material to the teeth and setting it in place, and really gave her final smile its wow factor.

The patient was smiling non-stop after treatment—ready for her wedding day and many happy years of smiles beyond!

This patient said a composite bonding treatment from way back in the past had left the tooth darkened. Despite trying whitening, the tooth continued to attract more stains and was looking increasingly dull compared to the surrounding teeth.

No wonder she’d started to feel a little self-conscious about showing off an otherwise beautiful smile!

After a careful assessment and consultation, I discovered the tooth had been impacted by trauma in the patient’s younger years—but luckily, the nerve was still healthy and alive.

I prescribed a new custom-designed tray to brighten the front and rear of the tooth before carefully removing the old composite. (My trusty magnifying loupe came in handy for this!)

I think then applied varying shades and tints of new composite to perfectly match her smile.

Her smile was already beautiful—but with just a few simple tweaks, it’s now perfect!

This treatment shows how impactful minor treatment can be.
