How long does composite bonding last?! This is the perfect case to show you what happens to composite bonding without any maintenance treatment over the course of just 7 years. Heaving staining, chipping, separation from the teeth (failure of the bond) and dental caries (decay) creeping in underneath the bonding.

One of the major drawbacks of composite bonding is that it can fail in some cases quite rapidly and in general is not considered a long term or “permanent” restorative solution. Almost every case of bonding that I see like this, requires porcelain veneers to replace the failed bonding and to reconstruct the smile and function for the long term.

4 porcelain veneers were placed for a much more attractive smile but most importantly this case is not likely to require maintenance or repairs for maybe 15 to 20 years
