This case involved a combination of Orthodontic alignment followed by porcelain restorations with veneers and crowns

This is what we call “Ortho-Restorative”

Why did we need the “Ortho” first- well this gentleman had a very deep overbite and the overbite was responsible for causing very severe wear of his lower front teeth over a period of many years. This is what we term “functional” wear and tear caused by excessive forces being applied to the teeth when chewing. If we had attempted to rebuild his worn teeth without doing this, he would have required much more invasive treatment with greater risk of complications. This would have been gum surgery plus full crowns (and not veneers) and the functional problems would still have been present and his new dental restorations would not have lasted as long as we’d like. It would also have meant a far less pleasing aesthetic result with a higher risk of nerve problems and complications following the surgery.

So a short course of Invisalign over 5 months was followed by the replacement of his old crowns with more pleasing new ones and the placement of minimal preparation porcelain veneers on his lower teeth.

I would expect these restorations to last for 15 to 20 years with almost no maintenance or repairs apart from an annual check up and a dental hygiene appointment every 3 to 4 months for optimal gum health
